So, what’s the difference between Information and Intelligence?
Information is essentially raw data (lacking context or analysis).
Intelligence is collated processed information (often from multiple sources).
Information is NOT Intelligence!
People often use the words ‘Intelligence’ and ‘Information’ interchangeably. However, raw reporting and unprocessed Information are not Intelligence.
Example:
- Full Motion Video from a Unmanned Areal Vehicle (UAV) is Not Intelligence.
- HUMINT reporting from a single-source is Not Intelligence.
- Mobile surveillance on a target is Not Intelligence.
- An Intelligence Target pack developed from multiple sources = Is Intelligence. 🙂
Intelligence is created by analysing collected information
